Kansas is a U.S. state in the geographic Midwestern region of the country. Located in the central United States, Kansas is an agricultural state, known for its wide, open fields and its signature wheat fields. Kansas is home to diverse landscapes, including the Flint Hills, and the Smoky Hills in the east, the High Plains and the Great Plains in the west, and the rugged hills of the Red Hills in the south. Additionally, Kansas is home to four mountain ranges, a number of rivers, forests, and wildlife preserves. The state's capital is Topeka, while its largest city is Wichita.
